odd request

*waves* Oh dear. I'm terrible with introductions. Um...hi. I'm new to the community, and a big fan of the books. I've read almost all of them, and love Gregor best of all.

Anyway. I have sort of an odd request that I'm hoping you guys can help me out with. I'm studying Russian, and I'm looking for Russian language books that I both have an English translation for, and that I really want to read. I'm trying to track down the Russian translation of The Vor Game (Игра Форов)--really, I'll take a Russian translation of any of the books, but that's the one I'm really hoping for--but it's proving really tricky. Does anyone know where I might get my hands on it?

ETA: So, of course once I give in and ask for help I finally have some success with my searches. If anyone is interested, there are downloads of the books here, though I have no idea if they're official translations or fan translations. I was hoping for actual physical books, but these will do in a pinch. :)

One of the main Russian fansites has details of the Russian editions of the books, and I think also some fan-made translations available for download, along with commentary on translating the Vorkosigan saga into Russian.

And there's lots of fanfic, too, if you want more Russian reading material :-).

My local Russian bookstore actually carried two Bujold books (until I bought them - they have not been replaced). If you have something like that in your area check it out. That's where I picked up my copy of the omnibus containing the Vor Game, anyway. A long shot, for sure, but sometimes those work out.

There's an active Russian-language Vorkosigan fandom and plenty of fan material in Russian.

Philomytha linked something related to this, but one thing to watch out for is that the official Russian translator decided a lot of the names were too Russian/not sci-fi enough and changed them (often to a phonetic rendition of the English pronunciation). As some bilingual fans highly disapproved of that, there are two sets of Russian character names floating around that are used more or less interchangeably by the fandom.
